ON-GOING RESEARCH
According to the time scale of geological events (deep time), we are leaving a permanent addition of strata that tell us how we will be remembered by the very deep future**. This artificially modified ground acts as an evidence of human impact but also home for novel materials, resulting from the hybridization of geological pieces (rocks, minerals, corals…) and durable waste (plastics, electronics...). From fordites to plastiglomerates or technofossils…
"I am not enough of a rock (not to be vain or to want to be heard)" proposes a radical ecological approach to this blended matter, speculating with a new taxonomy of materials dreamt from the co-evolution of nature and machine. A new collection of “artifi-natural“ materiality still able to hold and transfer its original properties and capacities into its new ontology. Rocks that can store data as a hard disk, mycellium as wifi antennas or optical fibre able to independently evolve as coral.
"I am not enough of a rock (not to be vain or to want to be heard)" proposes different lines of research and experimentation -through art and speculative design- in order to explore desirable habitats where this materiality can be shaped. Between the natural and the artificial. The esoteric and the queer.
This is an on going project combining critical research and speculative practice, currently looking for platforms to collaborate in the format of lectures, workshops and curating exhibitions / publications.

Según la escala temporal de los eventos geológicos (deep time / tiempo profundo), estamos provocando la creación de una capa permanente de estratos que nos cuenta cómo seremos recordados por el deep future / futuro profundo**. Este suelo modificado artificialmente actúa como evidencia del impacto humano pero también como hogar de nuevos materiales, resultantes de la hibridación de piezas geológicas (rocas, minerales, corales…) y residuos duraderos (plásticos, electrónicos…). Desde forditas hasta plastiglomerados o tecnofósiles…
"I am not enough of a rock (not to be vain or to want to be heard)" - No soy suficiente roca (para no ser vanidoso ni querer ser escuchado)- propone un enfoque ecológico radical a esta materia mezclada, especulando con una nueva taxonomía de materiales soñada a partir de la coevolución de la naturaleza y la máquina. Una nueva colección de materialidad “artifi-natural” que sea capaz de mantener y transferir las propiedades y capacidades originales a su nueva ontología. Rocas que puedan almacenar datos como un disco duro, micelio como antenas wifi o fibra óptica capaces de evolucionar de forma independiente como coral.
"I am not enough of a rock (not to be vain or to want to be heard)" - No soy suficiente roca (para no ser vanidoso ni querer ser escuchado)- propone diferentes líneas de investigación y experimentación -a través del arte y el diseño especulativo- con el fin de explorar hábitats deseables donde se pueda moldear esta materialidad. Entre lo natural y lo artificial. Lo esotérico y lo queer.
Este es un proyecto en curso que combina investigación crítica y práctica especulativa y actualmente busca plataformas para colaborar en formato de conferencias, talleres y comisariado de exposiciones/publicaciones.
